About HomeTech

HomeTech Healthy Home Solutions

HomeTech has been providing and installing home improvement products to New Zealanders since 1992 and has more than 70,000 customers across the country. From Kaitaia to Bluff, HomeTech’s nationwide network of credited installers and contractors install daylighting, condensation control, ventilation, heating/cooling, skylights / roof windows, hard wired fire alarms and attic stair solutions.

HomeTech first introduced the Solatube Daylighting System to the New Zealand market in 1992 – innovating daylighting applications. Solatube New Zealand is one of Solatube Internationals’ biggest and longest standing clients and has the distinction of having the highest market penetration worldwide.

Based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, HomeTech’s Managing Director Paul Nielsen and National Technical Sales Manager Mike Cullen (Auckland) manage a team of technical sales, national call centre staff, warehousing and office support teams across the country. The team services residential and commercial markets in addition to working alongside designers, architects and product partners.

The nationwide credited installer and contractor teams are all ‘licensed’ to install HomeTech’s range of products. At present, there are 25 licensees and ten contracting teams throughout New Zealand, having installing more than 100,000 products to the company’s 70,000 customers. The network is closely monitored and controlled for quality and in October 2009, the Solatube installation and roof penetrations process received BRANZ Appraisal [No: 665].

BRANZ Appraisal [No: 665] for the Solatube Daylighting System, roof penetrations and installation process tested the system against New Zealand Building Code standards. The BRANZ Appraised [No: 665] roof penetrations are used for HomeTech’s proprietary extraction ventilation systems, which far exceed the New Zealand Building Code for ventilation standards.

HomeTech was one of a top Mitsubishi Electric purchaser for 2007-08 and 2008-09, making it one of New Zealand’s largest suppliers of Heat Pumps.

The company was awarded the Housing New Zealand contract for installing ventilation to its properties in 1993; and is proud to still hold the contract today.

Part of the Future Proof Building Network (FPB) and the Green Building Council, HomeTech works closely with other building industry innovators to educate New Zealanders about the benefits of having a healthy home. HomeTech is also active within the community, having recently formed a charitable relationship with charity Skylight. This partnership sees HomeTech making a donation to Skylight for every Solatube Daylighting system sold, allowing Skylight to continue to provide a range of services that help children, young people and their families/whanau deal with trauma, change, loss, or grief, regardless of its cause.
