Bupa Beach Haven Hospital, located on the North Shore of Auckland, has been an important part of the local community for more than 25 years. Beach Haven Hospital has a proud history of providing a homely, nurturing environment for residents.

As part of the Bupa group of rest homes, hospitals and retirement villages, Beach Haven actively invests in its facilities to make improvements that help provide better care and comfort.

Objective:

As part of the continual improvement program at Beach Haven, Astley Construction of Auckland were engaged to undertake the design and modernization of a lounge area within the hospital facility. With the main objective being to improve the internal environment, expertise was sought from HomeTech to address the task of providing better air quality throughout the dementia lounge. Consideration for odour control was important for the delivery of quality living for residents and working conditions for staff.

Solution:

A balanced ventilation solution was designed to extract stale, warm air from the room, assisting with the removal of odours and moisture,  whilst replacing this with pre-tempered, filtered, air from outside. Tempering the incoming air is achieved efficiently via the energy recovery core making it easy to keep the space at  a comfortable temperature.
