For existing unducted fans going into the ceiling cavity; increase performance of insulation and minimise maintainence requirements associated with high moisture levels.
Correct Ducting is Essential for your Ventilation System
Common Installation Errors
Insulation is 'butted' up against an unducted ceiling fan (a gap of 200mm should be left)
Rangehoods and bathroom vents are ducted to the ceiling (but not to the outside). This filters odours and moisture into your attic cavity; creating an unhealthy moist environment.
Bulk ceiling insulation (ie: batts) act as a barrier to retain heat in your home. Moisture in the attic space may reduce their performance, acting as a conductor of the heat that is trapped.
The Solution is Ducting

To maximise the performance of your ventilation, all extraction fans should be ducted out to the exterior through the roof to prevent moisture entering the attic cavity. Giving you peace of mind your attic space is dry to receive the full benefit of your insulation.
